Commitments & Transfers Update
The month of April means that it’s time for late commitments and JC transfers to finalize their plans. Here are some new listings for our commitment lists and college listings:

Merrillville forward/center Tracee Mitchel (right) will be playing at Wabash Valley College next season. The 5’9 post averaged 7.1 points and 7.4 rebounds for 4A state championship finalist Merrillville this past season, helping the Pirates compile a 25-2 record. Mitchel was key to Merrillville’s advancement in the Regional final, where she scored the winning points in a highly contested win over Elkhart Memorial. She follows in the footsteps of former Merrillville standout Sharon Houston, who also played at Wabash Valley and is now an All-American at Indiana Northwest. - Marion senior Shayna Wood recently signed with Taylor University. The 5’11 forward averaged 7.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, while blocking 22 shots this past season for the 16-6 Lady Giants. She was a four-year starter for Marion and is expected to give Taylor head coach Tena Krause and solid presence in the post. More: Wood Signs with Lady Trojans – Taylor University
- Skylarr Shurn of Kokomo will attend Vincennes University next fall to continue her playing career. As a senior, Shurn averaged 17.2 points per game for the 17-3 Kats. The sharpshooter buried 51.3 percent of her shots from the floor and tallied 33 treys for the season. - Former Kokomo standout Shakeeta Cotton is moving on from Kankakee Community College to IUPUI for the 2010-11 season. The 5’8 guard averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds this past season, while leading the Cavaliers to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Cotton was named to the Region IV All-Tournament Team where she averaged 16.3 points per game in the series. More: Women’s Basketball Inks Four – IUPUI
