IUPUI’s coaching staff comes under fire by former players
The Indianapolis Star published an exposé about the IUPUI women’s basketball coaching staff on Sunday, outlining emotional abuse and NCAA violation allegations made by former players.
Seven-year head coach, Shann Hart (right) has seen 28 players and assistant coaches combined exit her program during just the past four years, including 19 scholarship players.
Coming forward publicly with the allegations in the article is former All-Summit League player Julia Whitted, who left the program midway through her senior year. Whitted, who prepped at Northview, told the Star that she left the team last December because she “could no longer take the ‘mental anguish’ of playing for head coach Shann Hart and associate head coach Chanel Spriggs.”
Hart’s contract was extended through 2013 in 2006 by the IUPUI administration.
