Movie court of Hickory Huskers hosts all-star doubleheader

Knightstown’s Historic Hoosier Gym, movie home of the “Hoosiers” Hickory Huskers, is again the site of the Hoosiers’ Reunion All-Star Classic. The sixth annual girls/boys doubleheader classic will take place on Friday, June 3, 2011. The girls game starts at 6:00 p.m. The boys game follows at 8:00 p.m. New Castle High School coaches Steve Bennett (boys) and Curt Bell (girls), along with Knightstown coaches Bob Allen (boys) Dawn Basicker (girls), will coach the teams.

Twelve girls who will participate in the 2011 Indiana/Kentucky All-Star series as Indiana All-Stars, highlighted by 2011 Miss Basketball Bria Goss, Ben Davis (KENTUCKY), will play in the first game of this doubleheader.

The Hickory girls are led by Goss and 2011 AAA IHSAA State Champion frontliner Mallory Ladd, Evansville Memorial (VALPARAISO) along with six other All-Stars — Jessica Carr, Hamilton Heights (VALPARAISO), Kaila Hulls, Bloomington South (BOWLING GREEN), Shelbie Justice, Rushville (BALL STATE), Jama Sharp, Mooresville (STETSON), Torrie Thornton, Carmel (PURDUE) and Jessica Valley, McCutcheon (INDIANA STATE).

The Terhune girls have the state’ leading scorer from the 2010-2011 regular season in Kaleigh Hensley (27 ppg), Wabash (ST. FRANCIS) as well as four 2011 Indiana All-Stars. They are Liza Clemons, Fort Wayne Snider (PURDUE), Courtney Larson, Columbus North (MIAMI-OH), Liz Stratman, Heritage Christian (XAVIER) and Akyah Taylor, Elkhart Memorial (MICHIGAN STATE).
