Recent 2012 commitments update

The early signing period for the Class of 2012 begins next Tuesday, and we are hearing about a few more commitments from the senior class as the signing date approaches. Here are the latest updates:

  • Akilah Sims – 5’11 F – FW Snider – IUPUI (D-I)
    Sims (right), a passionate, athletic and super quick three-sport (basketball, volleyball, track) standout, has selected the Jaguars of IUPUI as her program of choice. Ranked #25 in the nation at her position by ESPN HoopGurlz, Sims will be a strong addition to the IUPUI 2012 signing class along with Nicole Rogers (6’0 G, Western) and Shawneace Teauge (6’2 F/C, Ben Davis). Sims averaged 16.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game last seasons, and was a North Junior All-Star in 2011.
      
  • Jordin Alexander -5’11 G – Hamilton Southeastern – Brown (D-I)
    Alexander will take her considerable athletic and academic (4.02 GPA) talents to Brown University next season, a member of the Ivy League. A North Junior All-Star in 2011, the savvy perimeter player averaged 13.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game, and also was named First All-North Team by the Indianapolis Star and one of only four junior guards to be named First Team All State by Hoosier Basketball Magazine.

  • Jazmine Smith – 5’6 G – Pike – Missouri-St. Louis (D-II)
    A solid floor leader with good penetration skills and excellent shooting range, Smith was named All-County and All-Conference Indiana Honorable Mention last season, and was ranked in Rick Bolus’s top 25 players in the state.
