Senior girls double up on juniors 94-47 in exhibition
After some surprising victories by the junior squad over the seniors in past years — including two OT upsets last summer — the 2011 Senior All-Stars determinedly broke that trend by clobbering the junior girls 94-47 in exhibition last night at Washington High School.
Miss Basketball Bria Goss led the seniors with 17 points and 9 assists, supported by fellow backcourt mate Akyla Taylor of Elkhart Memorial (12 points) and a commanding frontcourt presence in Liz Stratman of Heritage Christian (10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks), Mallory Ladd (right) of Evansville Memorial (10 points, 11 rebounds, 4 blocks) and Kaila Hulls of Bloomington South (11 points). The juniors were led by South Team member Jocelyn Mousty of Eastern-Pekin who came off the bench to tally 17 points and 13 rebounds.
The juniors will try to regroup for another try against the seniors at Kokomo High School on Wednesday. The seniors face the Kentucky All-Stars on Friday at Bellarmine University in Louisville and then on Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse.
