After a disappointing last-second loss to Stanford in the Elite Eight, former Indianapolis North Central standout Amber Harris will return to the Xavier lineup for the 2010-11 season.  The 6’5 forward is set to graduate this spring, but will return for a fifth season as a result of a redshirt year during 2008-09 due to a knee injury.

With a college degree, Harris is eligible for the WNBA draft, but will forego that option to return for another college season.

“She really enjoyed this year, our experience in NCAA tournament,” said head coach Kevin McGuff in an AP article . “Being that close to the Final Four really whets your appetite. I think she felt like, ‘Wow, to have a chance to come back and try again is something special.'”

Harris was the Atlantic 10’s Player of the Year, averaging 16.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game on the way to a 30-4 record. She was also named AP Third Team All American.

Xavier returns four of its five starters from this season’s team, including 6’6 Indianapolis Brebeuf grad Ta’Shia Phillips.
