New faces in old places for some. Old faces in new places for others. Whatever the faces and wherever the places, it’s the start of another exciting season of girls basketball here in the great hoops state of Indiana.
Junior standout Kindell Fincher of Fort Wayne Canterbury has verbally committed to Xavier Univeristy. The 5’10 forward averaged 21.2 points and 12.2 points as a sophomore on last season’s 1A State Championship team, leading her team to a 25-2 record.
The 10th annual IBCA/IHSAA Underclass Girls Showcase has been set for July 20 at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.. Staged by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association with support from the Indiana High School Athletic Association, the Underclass Showcase events are designed to give exposure to top basketball prospects from across the state to colleges across the state and nation.
According to the Indianapolis Star, the 2012 Indiana Junior All-Stars will begin a series of games against the Kentucky Junior All-Stars this summer.
The Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports has released its All-State teams from the 2011-12 season. Eight seniors, five juniors and two sophomores comprise the 15-member First Team. Eleven seniors and four juniors round out the Second Team.
