According to The Republic, former AAU Girls Basketball Executive Committee Chair Pat McKee (right) has been named the new head coach at Columbus North.

McKee replaces long-time head coach Debbie Marr, who retired after amassing a 222-137 record over 17 years, going 14-7 last season at her alma mater. As a Bulldog, Marr (nee Law) was a 1981 Indiana All Star and was inducted to the Indiana Basketball Girls Hall of Fame in 2006.

McKee is also a Basketball Hall of Fame inductee (2008), honored for his contribution to the prep basketball community as a sportswriter with the Indianapolis Star for more than 26 years. For nearly two decades, he also volunteered as an AAU coach for many of Indiana’s most talented players.

McKee will inherit a squad that returns all but three seniors from the 2009-10 team, including 5’9 guard, Indiana Junior All-Star and Miami (Ohio) recruit Courtney Larson (14.2 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 4.1 apg) and 5’7 junior guard Jocelyn Hamilton (6.9 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 5.9 apg), as well as improving 5’11 frosh forward Quin Shoults (4.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg).
