After some surprising victories by the junior squad over the seniors in past years — including two OT upsets last summer — the 2011 Senior All-Stars determinedly broke that trend by clobbering the junior girls 94-47 in exhibition last night at Washington High School.
Indiana sophomores Taya Reimer (Hamilton Southeastern) and Stephanie Mavunga (Brownsburg) will both be representing the red, white & blue this summer as members of the 2011 USA Basketball Women’s U16 National Team.
In a departure from its invitation-only format of the past, USA Basketball instituted a new application process to include more participants at the U16 national team trials for 2011. Two applicants from Indiana are listed on the trial roster — 5’10 Columbus East freshman forward Allyson Bunch and 5’6 Bedford North Lawrence freshman forward Brittani Rizzi.
Knightstown’s Historic Hoosier Gym, movie home of the “Hoosiers” Hickory Huskers, is again the site of the Hoosiers’ Reunion All-Star Classic. The sixth annual girls/boys doubleheader classic will take place on Friday, June 3, 2011.
